Fayose not witch-hunting us for voting against Jonathan– Hausa community

Wednesday, April 29, 2015

Ayodele-FayoseThe Hausa Community in Ekiti State has denied accusing the state Governor, Mr. Ayodele Fayose, of crippling their businesses in the state for failing to vote for President Goodluck Jonathan in the March 28 Presidential poll.
The community specifically warned against linking the state government’s ban on indiscriminate display of wares, particularly on the highways dominated by Hausa traders, to politics. In a statement signed by their leader, Alhaji Musa Kanga; and Secretary, Alhaji Babangida Umar, the Hausa community in Ekiti said the rumour that they accused Fayose of targeting their businesses was being peddled to cause disaffection between the government and the people.
The statement read, “Anybody, irrespective of tribe or state of origin, contravening environmental law should be sanctioned according to the law.
“That the government decided to act to prevent violation of the law, such should not be linked to politics or be perceived to translate to a clampdown on Hausas for not voting President Jonathan during the presidential poll.
“Election has come and gone and the governor must be allowed peace of mind to govern the state properly.
“Fayose is very close to Hausa people and has always handled any issue relating to our well-being with special care and interest. He has been supportive”.
The community said it was aware of efforts being made to keep Ekiti clean and that the Hausas as stakeholders, would continue to support the government in this regard.
“The efforts of government to drive away those displaying wares opposite Christ’s School, Ado Ekiti, started with the ex-Governor Kayode Fayemi-led government and we assured him then that such would cease to happen and this should not be taken now as victimisation of our members”, it added.
