At the tail end of last year, the actress cum producer flaunted her
glittering middle finger on her Instagram page with the caption “Jehovah
you are the reason! Becos am happy!”, since then nothing has been heard
about her boyfriend and marriage plans.
She gushed about the engagement saying “Well, my wedding plans
are coming up very soon. I like keeping my personal life private.
Although I like being in the news for my outstanding kind of dresses,
but I’m a private person. I’m so happy about the engagement, just like
every other single girl would feel when proposed to. I’m excited about
it because my man loves me just the way I’m. ”
She has further assured that “when it is time for my marriage, I will let you know.”
Contributing her two cents to the Twitter outburst which happened a few weekends ago where a Nigerian guy reportedly dumped his girlfriend of 11 years for another lady, she said
“Honestly, 11 years was too much!
After you get to know your partner well and choose to stay in each
other’s lives, it is only right to do your due diligence as a man and
propose marriage. After dating long enough, if there is no future, you
the woman should rely on your God given instincts and move on.”
Recounting how her journey into the entertainment industry began “I
have always had the inclination towards the arts. I studied Television
and Film at Video Waves And Camera Film School and graduated in 2002. At
school, I came out as Best Overall Female in the class. After an
excursion with my classmates, I began auditioning for acting jobs
amongst other Nollywood projects and started acting in 2002, the same
year that I graduated.”
Now that she is a movie producer, she tells us the challenges she faces “As
a producer, I now know how it feels to be on the “other side of the
fence”! The budget you set keeps growing as you go! It was hectic! You
have to attend to the other executive producers and actors who may be
frustrated over changes. Basically, put your feelings aside and exercise
patience to accommodate all characters, “no pun intended” and
personalities.
She further talked about her newly released movie, Don’t Cry for Me,
The initial title was “Blind Promise”. My co-producer, Emem Isong and I
decided that “Don’t Cry for Me” was a suitable title due to the moral
of the storyline. I was looking for a great story and when I read the
synopsis of the script, I loved it and decided to start the production.
She also gives us a sneak peek into her upcoming movie project which involves playing a romantic role with Bobby Obodo “LOL! It feels good! I did my best to form a closer bond with him so that the role will be believable. It was very professional.”
On the toughest decision she has ever made in life, she said “Staying
dedicated to my career! You get distracted with life’s happenings
sometimes and wonder if you should add other things to your plate. As
far as I am concerned, I am on the right path and I am grateful to God!
And then, she admitted that even celebrities go through tough times “You
know as people or as artiste we go through dry seasons. However, in
those moments, you take the opportunity to polish your craft so that
when the opportunities to showcase your talent come, you are on point.
So that is how I keep going.”
